I always like to look out from our window in springtime as the sun washes the garden with a golden glow and the birdsong filters in through the glass. On a perfect spring day, it is almost impossible to stay indoors and that is why I love picnics in spring.
The wildflowers blooms came early this year in Texas, so Sanjay and I decided to have a perfect picnic day. We packed our picnic basket full of favorite snacks and drove to Pleasant Hill winery; a beautiful vineyard in the rolling hills of Washington County. It is a perfect spot for an afternoon Sunday picnic.
We noticed that it was not just the bluebonnets that got a jump-start on spring, we spotted everything from an abundance of iconic bloomers like Indian paintbrush springing up ahead of schedule.
We laid our blanket along the vineyards. To me, grass always seems to whisper in the spring, it ended up being a perfect and relaxing day.
I am wearing a Leslie Fay dress from Dillards, my floppy hat is from DSW and the picnic basket is from World Market. I love this picnic basket as it come with a cutting board, bread knife, goblets and a bottle opener that leaves ample space for everything else you need for your cheese and wine picnic.
